Guide: Welcome, everyone! Today we are visiting the historic Shard building in London. It has 95 floors and is one of the tallest buildings in Europe.
Anna: Wow, that's amazing! How many steps are there to the top?
Guide: There are 1,016 steps in total, but visitors usually take the lift. The observatory on the 69th floor is open to the public.
Anna: Is the building used as office space too?
Guide: Yes! The lower floors are rented out as offices. You can wear comfortable clothes for the visit, but depending on the occasion — for example, if you book a restaurant — smarter dress is expected.
Anna: Do we need to bring our own bedsheets for the overnight event?
Guide: No, bedsheets and blankets are provided. The ground floor has a gift shop where you can complete your visit by picking up a souvenir.

The Shard — London's Amazing Tower

The Shard is one of the most historic and amazing buildings in London. It stands 310 metres tall and has 95 floors. The building was completed in 2012 and was designed by the Italian architect Renzo Piano. Its glass exterior reflects the sky and changes colour depending on the weather and time of day.

The lower floors are used as office space, which companies can rent. The upper floors contain a luxury hotel, restaurants, and private apartments. On the 69th floor, visitors can find a public observatory with stunning views of the city. On a clear day, you can see up to 64 kilometres from the viewing platform.

The Shard attracts millions of visitors every year. Guests are advised to wear comfortable shoes as there are over 1,000 steps inside the building. The dress code depends on the occasion — casual clothing is fine for the observatory, but restaurants expect smarter dress. Visitors cannot bring their own food inside.
