Guide: Welcome to the Grand Theatre! Today's performance starts in the front row at seat number one. The show is a musical about the city.
Tom: Is this a new show? I saw some graffiti on the wall outside with the show's name on it.
Guide: Yes! The show expired last season but was so popular that they brought it back. The swing performer will replace the lead tonight due to illness.
Tom: Where can we book tickets?
Guide: At the ticket counter near the front entrance. Unfortunately, the lift is out of order today, so please use the stairs to reach your row.
Tom: Are there rubbish bins near the seats?
Guide: Yes, there are bins at the end of each row. Please help keep the theatre tidy — don't litter. You're on the right track — the performance is truly messy with amazing special effects!

Graffiti — Art or Damage?

Graffiti is a word used to describe writing or drawings made on the front of public walls and buildings. Some people consider it art, while others think it is simply damage to property. Many city walls have broken tiles or damaged surfaces because of graffiti artists who use spray paint.

In some cities, councils collect graffiti from certain areas and display it in galleries. However, in most places, painting on walls without permission is illegal and can expire your chance to exhibit legally. Artists who are caught must pay a fine and sometimes do community service.

Despite the debate, graffiti has a strong cultural presence. Famous artists like Banksy have turned street art into a global phenomenon. Many people now travel to cities specifically to look after famous graffiti murals and photograph them. Whether messy or beautiful, graffiti continues to spark conversation about the meaning of public art.
