Life in University Halls of Residence
Maya moved into her university halls of residence in September. The accommodation was simple but comfortable — a small room in a large block of flats-style building on the campus.
The rules were clear: students had to keep their rooms tidy, and it was forbidden to make noise after 10 pm. Maya loved walking around the outdoor area of the campus barefoot in summer.
One morning, Maya noticed a poster on the wall: "Do not feed animals! A squirrel has been coming to the kitchen window." The note explained it was not allowed to leave food near the premises.
Maya always asked for permission before using any kitchen appliances late at night. She respected the rule about registering overnight guests. Her friend Emma — a fellow student — stayed once and had to be officially registered.
Maya loved her hall. It was better than staying in a small cottage, and far more affordable than a hotel.
